Trenes Argentinos announced that starting this Thursday, services on the Mitre line, including branches to Tigre, José León Suárez, and Bartolomé Mitre, will once again arrive at Retiro station. This follows the successful completion of operational tests for the upgraded signaling system. The tests, conducted with passenger-less trains, yielded satisfactory results, confirming the new system's correct functionality and ensuring safe conditions for train entry into the terminal. The infrastructure work was carried out by Trenes Argentinos Infraestructura as part of the Railway Emergency Action Plan, aiming to improve operational safety and optimize line performance. The project involved replacing 120 kilometers of cables, installing new signals and semaphores, and upgrading the century-old signaling system with modern equipment. Connecting the new system to the existing one required temporarily suspending service to Retiro. During this period, 7.7 kilometers of tracks on the Tigre branch were also renovated, bringing the total modernized rail section between Empalme Maldonado and Tigre to 29 kilometers. It is estimated that travel time between Retiro and Tigre could be reduced by about 10 minutes by mid-year and by another seven minutes by late 2026.
